It's finally time for cozy sweaters, apple picking and Halloween parties — it's October.
What is Autumn.....The season of the year between summer and winter, during which the weather becomes cooler and many plants become dormant, extending in the Northern Hemisphere from the autumnal equinox to the winter solstice and popularly considered to include the months of September, October, and November; fall. In the Southern Hemisphere autumn includes March, April, and May.
I must admit that I love this time of the year, I always feel I have more time for cooking and preserving, and if you eat the foods of the seasons instead of forced foods available for any of the supermarkets each season offers you new tastes and textures, wonderful and then after a day in the kitchen putting your feet up in front of the fire with a nice cup of tea and something to eat with it. Or when you return from a nice long walk and having hot chocolate and tea cakes toasted in front of the fire......ah I need to move house and buy one with a open fire ha ha !!!!
So this week we are going to look at Autumn foods. and just in case you are wondering about my spices, I would love it if you tell me a spice that you maybe have in the cupboard and you can't think of a recipe to for it. click here and send me a message and I will spotlight the herb or spice with a week of recipes.
